Safety at Run & Gun Battlegrounds
Your safety is our #1 priority. Every session is supervised by a trained Range Safety Officer, and every player is equipped with proper protective gear. Here's everything you need to know.
Is GellyBall Safe?
Yes. GellyBall is one of the safest recreational shooting sports available. The GellyBalls are made of super-absorbent polymer (the same material as water beads/Orbeez). They're soft and burst on impact - a hit barely stings, about like a rubber band snap.
Compared to paintball or airsoft, GellyBall is much gentler and doesn't require heavy padding. With proper face protection (which we provide), GellyBall is built to be safe and enjoyable for players ages 6 and up.
Protective Gear
We provide all protective equipment at no extra charge. Every player is fitted with gear before stepping onto the field.
Full-Face Mask
ANSI-rated full-face masks protect your eyes, nose, and mouth. Every player wears one at all times on the field. No exceptions.
Protective Vest
Padded tactical vests are available on request for extra upper-body protection during gameplay.
GellyBall Equipment
All blasters are inspected and tested before each session. They fire soft, water-based GellyBalls that burst on impact.
Ref-Controlled Handling
Blasters are only handled inside the play area. Off the field they stay pointed at the ground, and a ref decides when a round goes live.
Range Safety Officer (RSO)
On-site for every session
Every game session at Run & Gun Battlegrounds is supervised by a trained Range Safety Officer. The RSO is responsible for running the games, enforcing rules, and ensuring every player stays safe from start to finish. They're your go-to person for questions, disputes, and emergencies.
RSO Responsibilities
Conduct pre-game safety briefing for all players before every session
Explain all rules, boundaries, and hand signals before gameplay begins
Monitor active gameplay and enforce all safety rules in real time
Stop play immediately if any unsafe behavior is observed
Ensure all players are wearing protective gear correctly at all times
Manage player disputes, foul calls, and rule enforcement fairly
Control the flow of games including starts, stops, and timeouts
Perform first aid response if any player needs medical attention
Inspect all equipment before and after each session
Brief new and younger players with extra care and attention
Field Rules
These rules are non-negotiable. The RSO will cover all of them during the pre-game briefing. Violations may result in removal from the game without refund.
Masks On At All Times
Full-face masks must be worn from the moment you step onto the field until the Range Safety Officer calls the game over. No lifting or removing masks during play.
No Blind Firing
You must always have eyes on your target before firing. Shooting around corners or over barriers without looking is not allowed.
Obey the RSO
When the Range Safety Officer gives a command, all players must comply immediately. If the RSO calls 'Cease fire!' or 'Game over!', stop shooting instantly.
No Physical Contact
No pushing, grabbing, tackling, or any physical contact with other players. GellyBall is a shooting sport, not a contact sport.
Blasters Down Off-Field
Outside the designated playing field, keep your blaster pointed at the ground with your finger off the trigger. Only bring it up when the ref starts a round.
Call Your Hits
If you're hit, raise your blaster overhead and call 'Hit!' loudly. Then move to the designated respawn zone or exit the field depending on the game mode.
Age Guidelines
Emergency Procedures
- Basic first aid supplies are on-site at every session
- We don't have medical staff on-site - if a player needs medical attention, play stops immediately and our crew calls for emergency help
- Any player can call "Cease fire!" in a genuine emergency and all play stops immediately
- The RSO points out the safe zone and the quickest way off the field during the pre-game briefing
- Since we set up somewhere new every time, our crew confirms the exact address on-site so emergency services can be directed there quickly if needed
